Really, everyone should have a sub domain. If you're going to spend the time, effort and money that's required to conduct professional and effective email marketing the not using a sub domain is a bit like buying that special someone the most perfect gift and wrapping it in old newspaper.
What is a sub domain? It is a prefix to the domain of your website. If you get to your website through the URL www.companyname.com, then your domain is companyname.com. Your own email address is something like your.name@company.com.au .
So a sub domain for email marketing might be info.companyname, com and you might send your monthly "Our News" campaign from ournews@info.company.com.au
Not using a sub domain means your emails are sent from our generic domain, something like company@ecm7.com.
It's pretty clear cut which From Address is better, isn't it?
Not only is the sub domain easily recognised by the recipient, it is much easier for you to get whitelisted with organisations and ISPs as they know that only email from you can come from that domain.
